Girlhood is a series of photographs that explores the identities and emotions of teenage girls, with a particular emphasis on my generation. Through five different themes, I have depicted a nostalgic and glamorised sense of youth, with each series containing a combination of abstract, idealised portraits and more literal photographs that relate to the theme title. Among these are Dear Diary, Crush Culture, Birthday Blues, Morning Madness, and Forever Friends. By using the same models, a narrative is built across multiple series when united as one. This is particularly evident in ‘Forever Friends’ as the two models come together in this shoot to emphasise the concept of close friendship, particularly during youth.
